Chinese Embassy in Somalia Holds Reception Celebrating the 77th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

On 21 September, the Chinese Embassy in Somalia held the reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, delivered the keynote speech. The reception was attended by H.E. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, the Acting President and the Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, the Speaker of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Ministers of the Federal Government, Members of the Federal Parliament, Leaders of Federal Member States, Generals, high-ranking officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and friends from all walks of life in Somalia. Nearly 200 guests attended the event. 

Ambassador Wang said that, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), socialism with Chinese characteristics has achieved great success, and Chinese modernization presents bright prospects. Facing the current turbulent and changing international landscape, Chinese President Xi Jinping has put forward the four global initiatives aiming at building a better world, which has received wide and positive response from the international community. Currently, China and Somalia are continuously consolidating political mutual trust and deepening pragmatic cooperation. China stands ready to work closely with Somalia to promote the further development of the China-Somalia strategic partnership.

The Somali side highly commended China's great achievements made on the path towards modernization, reiterated the firm adherence to the one-China principle and support for the relevant initiatives, and expressed the expectation to expand cooperation and exchanges in various fields with the Chinese side. The reception was marked by a warm and cordial atmosphere.
